Inclement Weather Procedures

During periods of severe weather or unsafe conditions, Sumter School District may implement one of several options to ensure the safety of students and staff. These options may include an eLearning day, a delayed school start, early dismissal, or the closure of schools and district offices.

When weather-related decisions are necessary, families and staff will be notified as early as possible. Whenever feasible, announcements will be made the day before to allow families time to plan. If a decision must be made on the day of the event, notifications will be issued no later than 5:00 a.m.

The district will communicate weather-related schedule changes through multiple channels, including:

·         District email communications
